ZONTA INTERNATIONAL is an organization of service that consists of women who are distinguished in various professions which aims to improve the condition of women in the world.
The approximately 33,000 members are distributed in over 1,200 clubs in 67 countries.
Zonta Clubs around the world are members of Zonta International.

The term ZONTA means HONEST AND TRUSTWORTHY and Sioux language was chosen by the Company's Founders in 1919 in Buffalo, USA where the Club was born.

The mission of Zonta International Club is to organize activities and services to global and local level to improve the legal, political, economic, cultural, health and training for women and to promote justice and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.

Zonta has fixed representations at the UN (since 1946) and at the EU.

Every two years the club will meet in a World Convention in which they draw conclusions of the work done in two years and outline projects and goals for the next two years.

The World Convention democratically elect the Board and the President who will govern the ONG in the next biennium.

The ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION aims, through the support of Zonta International, to develop initiatives in literacy and health aid to poor women in areas of the planet.

AREA 03, DISTRICT 28
The Zonta Club are divided into districts to facilitate contact and coordination of activities.
The District 28 is composed of:
Germany and Czech Republic - AREA 02
Italy and Turkey (Istanbul) - AREA 03
Switzerland and Liechtenstein - AREA 04

This is the site of Area 03 which includes 21 Italian Clubs and the Turkish Club from Istanbul.
The Presidents of the Clubs are coordinated by Area DIRECTOR along with the support of the Board which then inform the Governor of the District.
The Area Director and the Board are elected every 2 years by the Presidents of the Area.
The Governor and the District Board are also elected every two years in the District Convention in which all Presidents and Directors participate.

THE PURPOSE AND CLUB ACTIVITIES
The members of the local Zonta International Clubs are women in established professions and in business which come together to engage on local projects and initiatives that correspond to the Mission of Zonta International and fund raise for projects supported by the Zonta International Foundation.
The Clubs are responsible for local external communication designed to increase the visibility of Zonta in the territory.
The Clubs are also responsible for fostering contacts with institutions, clubs and other associations, companies and public and private, the clubs also contribute to the dissemination of the aims of Zonta and increase interest in their mission.
Each club elects its Chairman and its Board, which shall remain in office two years.
